The Shortest Distance Between Any Two Points Is

A straight line.

I was perusing my web logs and noticed that no fewer than 6 people ended up here recently while looking for the answer to that question.  I’m not sure how they get here, surely there are better search results.  But, nonetheless, I aim to please.

The shortest distance between any two points is a straight line.

It’s not a trick question, just one of those answers that doesn’t just pop into your head.

Incidentally, the answer to a few other geometry test questions:

• The area of a triangle is 1/2 height times its base.
• The area of a circle is pie r squared (pie times r squared – or if you prefer, to the 2nd power).
• The circumference of a circle is 2 pie r  (2 times pie times r)
• Pie to 5 decimal places is equal to 3.14159 (they never made me know it any further).
• Flying from the US to Europe (or to Asia) over the polar caps is shorter than going around the earth in a horizontal line.
• Longitude is the North – South ones (way to remember: LONG-itude)
• Latitude is the East – West ones (remembering trick: FAT-itude)
